I initially was looking into the Climbathon as a way to challenge myself physically. As I looked further into it, I realized that it is in support of fighting women’s cancers. I know and have known multiple women that have beat it, are dealing with it or have lost the fight. There is one specifically who lost the battle that is nearest to my heart.
Those close to me know that I lost my sister to cancer last year. She went through absolute hell over the years that she was fighting it. The way I see it, the hell that I’ll put myself through to get up the mountain will pale in comparison.
My goal this year is 5 trips up (about 10,000 feet and 11 miles). If time allows and barring any unforeseen circumstance(s), I will push myself beyond that.
I’m very grateful to all of the people that have donated to the cause and helped me to exceed my initial goal of $1000. As a result of the amazing support received, I’ve increased my goal to $2000 to see where it takes us.
It always feels weird to ask for money, however it’s not for me so please consider sharing this page with others or even donating toward this worthwhile cause.
Thank you.
