Let Every Woman Know - Alaska has supported my every step of fighting stage 3 of Ovarian Cancer. LEWK sponsored massage therapy for my hands and feet after my chemotherapy treatments, oncology massage appointments that addressed my surgical scar sensitivities, and annual OBGYN cancer conferences that I attended to learn about the latest cancer research and treatment options. LEWK even sponsored my Gold Nugget Triathlon race entry for multiple years.

My retreat to Yukon Island with other OBGYN cancer warriors (LEWK sponsored) came at a critical time when I was trying to reenter into the workforce and balance treatment and raising a family. My hair had grown back and for all other observers, I looked back to normal. The long term and short-term side effects of the medicines were so hard on my body and mind. It was such a relief to meet others along the same path. About 1/3 of the ladies on that retreat are no longer with us.

Last year I decided that if I made 4 years of No Evidence of Disease, I would sign up for the Alyeska Climbathon and hike up North Face at least as many times and the number of years I have lived with no evidence of disease. I will train, get fitter, and raise funds for the group that took care of me and so many other OBGYN cancer fighters and survivors.
